When I first met Kendra, I knew two things right at the start – her wedding was going to be spectacular and she’d be someone I’d call a friend at the end of the planning process. Kendra has such a warm and inviting personality, I was so excited to get working with her on her wedding. When it came down to the final production – everything was, as I said, spectacular. From the horse-drawn carriage to the incredible decor by Posh Productions, Baton Rouge hadn’t seen a wedding like this before!

But the most beautiful part of their wedding wasn’t the dress, the decor, or even the flowers – it was the love that Kendra and Alvin share for each other and their children. The way that Alvin gazes at Kendra, you can tell he puts her first. And their love story is truly something special. But I’ll let them tell it in their own words…

Kate:
How did you two meet?

Kendra:
We knew about each because we attended the same high school, but we officially met on Facebook years after we both graduated by complimenting each other’s kids. Social media definitely has its perks!

Kate:
When did you know you wanted to marry Alvin?

Kendra:
I knew I wanted to marry Alvin when I saw how family oriented he was. He also has an unconditional love for his mother, and I was told the way a man treats his mother will be the same way he treats his wife!

Kate:
When did you know you wanted to marry Kendra?

Alvin:
I knew I wanted to marry Kendra once I began to know and understand her. She is a very unique creation of God! I enjoy the responsibility of listening to her heart, and I wanted that responsibility forever!

Kate:
What’s the story of the engagement?

Kendra:
Alvin had me to plan a Christmas party for our family and friends, while unknowingly planning our engagement party. Everyone knew except me. Everything was so beautifully done. Halfway through the party, he had his nieces walk around and put rose petals all over the floor. There was also a mime dancer dancing to “You and I” by John Legend and “Marry me” by R. Kelly. Our kids brought the ring and after that he got on one knee and proposed. It was even more special because all of our family and friends were there!

Kate:
What was your wedding like for you?

Kendra:
Everything about our wedding was impeccable to say the least! We had the best wedding planner, Kate with KBCookWeddings, and incredible event designer, Kandice with Posh Productions, to help make our day spectacular! We are still hearing about our wedding and how different and beautiful it was! We brought a little new orleans flavor to downtown Baton Rouge with a mardi gras Indian and second line band! They marched us from the ceremony to the reception. Our kids rode in a horse-drawn carriage with us while our wedding party and some guests followed behind. That was the highlight of our day!

Our guests were in awe when they saw all the beautiful decor. They were absolutely amazed by the suspended cake and live painting during the reception! The entire day was perfect and this was a memorable event that we will cherish for a lifetime!

Kate:
What’s the one thing Alvin does that you know you can’t live without?

Kendra:
The one thing that Alvin does that I can’t live without is the way he cares for me. He makes sure to put me first before himself. It’s the simple things he does that I admire the most!

Kate:
What’s the one thing Kendra does that you know you can’t live without?

Alvin:
The one thing Kendra does that I can’t live without is her being as loyal as she is! The definition of “loyal” is to be faithful to one’s oath, commitments, and obligations. When it comes to Kendra I never have to question her loyalty, because I know how devoted she is!
